RMI 16: Running Example Programs: Start Server

• Start rmiregistry (UNIX:) First turn off CLASSPATH (e.g. in bash export CLASSPATH=)

  rmiregistry & (default port 1099)
  or
  rmiregistry 2001 & (port set to 2001)
  

• Restore the CLASSPATH (ensure it includes compute.jar in server public_html/classes and server source file)
• Start command for server: If using HTTP:

  java -Djava.rmi.server.codebase=http://http-host/~ananda/public_html/classes/
       -Djava.rmi.server.hostname=http-host
  	 -Djava.security.policy=java.policy
  	 engine.ComputeEngine
  

  If using file:

  java -Djava.rmi.server.codebase=file:/server-host/public_html/classes/
  	 -Djava.rmi.server.hostname=server-host
  	 -Djava.security.policy=java.policy
  	engine.ComputeEngine
