Extending Notation: Stereotype

• Extend/adjust existing model element.
• New model element based on existing one.
• Adds extra semantics to the new model element
• Can have stereotypes of:
  • Class (e.g., <<Boundary>>, <<Entity>>, <<Control>>)
  • Node
  • Component
  • Notes
  • Generalisation
  • Association (e.g., <<include>>, <<extend>>)
  • Dependencies
  • ... etc.
• Already existing stereotypes may be used to modify an existing model element.
• Double angle brackets (<<...>>), ``guillemets'' used to identify stereotypes
• Also Graphical representation using icon (e.g., Actor)
